How to Find the Perfect Dress Size!

Good measurements are the key to having a dress that fits with little or no alterations. Twirl dress sizes are determined by Bust, Waist and Hip. They all come in a standard length so some alterations at the hem may be needed if you are petite. Also most Twirl dresses feature generous side seams so that a dress can be sized to fit you perfectly, if you don't fall in the measurements exactly. Another common alteration with a modest dress is to have the shoulder taken up. It is best to have someone else take your measurements for you. Use a flexible fabric tape measure. Be sure to wear thin clothing and the undergarments you will be wearing with your dress (no sports bras!) so that the measurements are correct.

Bust measurement - This should be taken at the fullest part of your bust with your arms down. Remember to stand up straight and not to pull the tape measure too tight. It should fit snug but comfortably. Bust measurement is crucial in all dresses.

Waist measurement - This should be taken at your natural waist (close to your belly button) not necessarily where you wear your pants. This is generally the smallest point between your bust and hips. (Don't try and suck everything in unless you want to stand like that all night long!) The tape measure should be snug but comfortable. Most dresses have a fitted waist and it is important to get an accurate measurement.

Hip Measurements - This should be taken at the fullest part of your hips. Typically this is 7-8 inches lower than your natural waist. Be sure that the tape measure is snug and that it hasn't slipped down in some spots. Hip measurements are crucial in low drop waist and fitted gowns.

Things to keep in mind with your measurements

-If the gown has a lace-up back your measurements can easily fit up or down one size! This is great to keep in mind when your size may be sold out.

-Measurements change! Just because you ordered one size for homecoming doesn't mean prom is going to be the same size! REMEASURE, because the size chart is very specific you may not realize you have changed!
