Modesty is not a new concept nor is it exclusive to one culture or religion. Islamic, Jewish and Christian faiths support modest dress.

So what is modesty? Modesty, as defined in Merriam-Webster's dictionary, is "freedom from conceit or vanity" and "propriety in dress, speech or conduct." For Islamic girls this means wearing a Hijab or practicing haya—modesty in Islam—a word which describes both shyness and a deeper modesty that is based on faith. For Jewish girls Tzniut, translated loosely as modesty, begins with a different way of looking at oneself.
